Freshman Tours
At the beginning of each school year at Palmer High School, the Alumni Association
conducts tours of the school and the Alumni Historical Rooms for all incoming Freshmen in conjunction
with, and in coordination with the History Department. By doing so, we hope to instill a deep appreciation
for the rich history, and traditions at Palmer. This is a copy of the current script used for these tours and for
all reunion tours. ALUMNI VOLUNTEERS ARE ALWAYS NEEDED!
Overview of Freshman History Tour
These tours are usually done the first couple weeks of school in the Fall. The Classes are 55 minutes long.
The format for the tours is a 4 station presentation. (approximately - 10 minutes each
1. Courtyard and Hall of Fame. This first leg of the tour takes some amount of walking.
2. Third floor display window.
3. & 4. Two Historical rooms.
We have requested that the teacher moves the classes from station to station.
The students will arrive with a "test" from their teachers. On occasion, the students will try to jump ahead to get answers, we assure them the item will be covered by the end of the presentation.
Alumni Volunteers only do one station, and there is a script for guidance. Click here for a link to the script.
This means that 4 people are needed to complete each tour with a break for each person as the the class is moved through the presentation.
We will set a time the week before to do demonstration run and make everyone comfortable with this fun project.
It is not necessary to do EVERY day or EVERY tour on each day. We are hopeful that we will attract lots of new people so that we can have back up and no burnouts.
